Conservative News: The Disemboweling of America - HUMAN EVENTS

Pat Buchanan has an excellent article today on the state of American industry and the growth of big government under both Bush administrations and the Clinton administration. All have basically outsourced American industry while growing the size of government and running up huge deficits. Both political parties are guilty of trading good, hardworking American jobs for international political favors. Now we have a so called service economy based on what? That's right more government.
Things that we once made in America -- indeed, we made everything -- we now buy from abroad with money that we borrow from abroad.

Over this Lost Decade, 5.8 million manufacturing jobs, one of every three we had in Y2K, disappeared. That unprecedented job loss was partly made up by adding 1.9 million government workers.

The last decade was the first in history where government employed more workers than manufacturing, a stunning development to those of us who remember an America where nearly one-third of the U.S. labor force was producing almost all of our goods and much of the world's, as well.

For those voters out there who think the American economy now under the control of President Obama is going to turn around soon are absolutely crazy. I have to give Pat Buchanan credit for at least speaking the truth about what we have become as a nation. America doesn't create anything. It doesn't produce anything. We need big government to prop up the failing industries that we do have. Our government's free trade economic policies have basically eliminated the American middle class and outsourced our livelihoods. I think it is high time for another revolution in America. It is time for a TEA PARTY Revolution!!!!!

US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: "We only lost 36,000 Jobs Today"

U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid's comments on our nation's job market should alarm every American family struggling to keep their homes, pay their bills, and raise their kids in one of the most unstable job markets since the great depression.

All the polls indicate that Americans are losing faith that our economy is going to turn around any time soon. And it is no wonder when Democratic Congressional leaders like Harry Reid say things like it's a good day since we only lost 36,000 jobs. What kind of economic leadership is this?

What An Idiot!!!

Since the election of President Obama's this is how democrats in Congress continue to spin the economic downturn that our country is facing right now. Congressional leaders like Reid and Nancy Pelosi have this idealistic view that things could have been worse without them, their government takeover of industry, and their big bailouts to Wall Street financial tycoons.

They are simply out of touch with everyday Americans trying to find a job. You can dismiss Reid's comments as just Washington D.C. sarcasm, but is it really a laughing matter to the 36,000 thousand people who lost their jobs and the families that will be impacted by the job cuts.

All we have to know is that as the Democratic Party leadership in Congress continues to push health care reform down our throats more and more people are losing their jobs, their homes, and their dignity. Something I think lawmakers like Harry Reid lost a long time ago.

The slogan this election year isn't, "It's the economy stupid". It's save our economy from the STUPID people in Washington D.C.!!!!

Holden On the Hotspot

From the Lebanon Daily News:
Pennsylvania's Republican committee is criticizing 17th District Congressman Tim Holden for not returning campaign money he received from embattled New York Congressman Charlie Rangel.

On Thursday, the Republican Party of Pennsylvania blasted Holden and five other of the state's congressional Democrats for not returning campaign contributions from Rangel.

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives Ethics Committee rebuked Rangel....

Since the Ethics Committee's ruling, recipients have donated to charity $383,000 of the nearly $800,000 Rangel contributed to their congressional campaigns in 2008, the National Journal reported Friday. Holden was not listed among them. A call to his office was not returned.

Luke Bernstein, executive director of the state Republican Party, lambasted Holden for holding on to the money.

"For the sake of Congressman Holden's constituents, it's time for Tim Holden to step out of the shadows and return every last penny of Charlie Rangel's 'dirty money'," he said Thursday.

And it's not just the Republicans:

Holden also faces pressure from Democratic leaders who want him to vote for health-care reform. In November, Holden was one of 39 Democrats to vote against the House version of the bill, which passed 220-215.

An article in Allentown's The Morning Call Friday said Holden was noncommittal when asked if he would support the bill being pushed by President Barack Obama

Read the whole thing here.

I'm not sure the Republicans will get far in trying to tie Tim to Rangel. There has to be more substance than that, but the health-care vote is a potential killer. It's not good enough to be "noncommittal" on this thing. It gives the impression that he can be bought. Tim has to take a strong stand against Obamacare and do so soon.

TEA for Two? Should the TEA party movement be co-opted by the government?

Guest Column By Lowman Henry

The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party movement over the past year has developed into a major force in American politics. So much so it lifted a little known state senator in Massachusetts into the U.S. Senate seat once held by Ted Kennedy, and last month held a national convention that attracted Sarah Palin and other big names as speakers.

But where does the TEA Party movement go to from here?

TEA activists, in Pennsylvania and nationwide, will undoubtedly have a significant impact in a number of statewide, congressional and even legislative races. There will also likely be an inflow of TEA activists into the official Republican Party structure as seats on both the state and county committees are up for election this year.

How closely though should the TEA Party movement bind itself to the Republican Party? When it adheres to its principles, which it sometimes does not, the Republican Party is clearly more ideologically in step with the TEA activists than the Democrats. In fact, is the Leftist Democratic agenda pushing for nationalized health care, Cap and Trade, excessive spending and massive deficits which have awakened and energized TEA partiers causing them to become involved or more involved in the political process.

Despite that, there is good reason for the TEA Party movement to not allow itself to be co-opted into the establishment Republican Party. It would be far better for the movement to exist as an independent political force, making common cause with the GOP when interests coincide.

The debate is running both ways. Establishment Republican leaders are divided over how to deal with the TEA Party movement. Some are politically savvy enough to understand many of the TEA partiers are part of the conservative base of the GOP that became disaffected with the party's straying from its principles over the past decade.

Other Republican officials are scared of the TEA Party types. One Republican county chairman recently called a congressional candidate to berate him for speaking at a TEA Party rally. State Republican Chairman Rob Gleason was the master of ceremonies at a TEA Party candidates' night, and then branded as rebels anybody who opposed the party's endorsed candidates - all in the same week.

There is no doubt that when the TEA Party movement and the Republican Party are united they are unbeatable. But, that unity should only exist around candidates who deserve it. TEA partiers should remain free to boycott those Republican candidates who don't reflect their ideals - or even to support conservative Democrats who do.

If the TEA Party movement is co-opted into the mainstream Republican Party its influence will wane. The movement is powerful precisely because it cannot be counted on: it must be courted, and candidates must prove they deserve its support. If the TEA Party activists are assimilated into the establishment GOP they will simply be taken for granted much in the same way the conservative Republican base has been in recent years.

This is not a broadside at the Republican Party. It simply is the natural order of things. In the Democratic Party, for example, the African-American vote is taken for granted because party leaders know 90% or more will vote for the Democratic candidate in any given election. Thus, elected Democrats tend not to be overly responsive to the needs of that community.

The same fate will befall the TEA Party movement if it allows itself to be incorporated into the Republican Party. For now, at least, the TEA Party is best developing as an independent movement, and the GOP would be wise to court its support. That will allow the TEA Party movement to keep alive its activist fervor, while making the Republican Party toe the ideological line.

It is best if the Republican Party is forced to earn the support of the TEA Party activists. Or perhaps, as happened in Massachusetts, the TEA Party movement can earn the support of the mainstream Republican Party. After all, the GOP had written off Scott Brown and it was the TEA Party movement that put him in a position to win. Only then did the Republican machinery kick into gear and help to put him over the top. The bottom line there is that Republicans and TEA Party activists worked together - and won.

The formula for success has been discovered, and there is no reason to fix what isn't broken.

Employees of Congresswoman Dahlkemper Campaigning “On Company Time”?

Written by Roberta Biros

I get plenty of traffic to my numerous blogs. I’m currently publishing my comments through several different forums and I receive traffic from all of them. The traffic patterns are always interesting to look at. I receive local traffic throughout Mercer County, I receive traffic from throughout Pennsylvania (Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Erie), and I receive steady traffic from Washington DC. I understand that there are plenty of people “keeping an eye” on bloggers (especially the conservative ones), and I’m entertained by their diligence. Today, however, I experienced something new, and I feel that it should be discussed publicly as it exemplifies a problem with “the system”.

The "Dahlkemper Post"

I published a blog post yesterday titled “Taking Bets: Will Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper Be a One Hit Wonder?”. It was a simple piece explaining why I think that Congresswoman Dahlkemper will lose her seat in Congress in 2010. As soon as the post was published it began to receive traffic nationwide. It also received quick comments through the supplied discussion forum.

I believe in free speech, and I like the comment feature because it gives everyone an opportunity to join in the conversation. I accept the criticisms that are shot my way and I publish all comments and respond accordingly.

This morning I received an interesting comment that attempted to criticize me personally, and also attempted to “prop up Mrs. Dahlkemper” using this public forum. The comment read as follows (or you may read the comment HERE):

We do think a lot of ourselves don't we? Much as i thought, you have no clue as to how one becomes a "Blue Dog". You have to be invited to join the group, you can't just announce it. Be asked to join means that you meet a certain criteria the group has. Perhaps research is not your strong suit.'

I also noticed you skipped over the the pro-life issue which you in your original is informed rant inferred that she was not. Again making things up will only fool the ignorant. The facts will make your bet the sucker bet.

By the way, I'll see your acquaintances and raise you mine that Dahlkemper has more personalty in her pinky than you do in your entire body. Do you think that your obvious disdain for 'them thar LIBrals' might have something to do with the fact that Dahlkemper did not fawn over you? Again, you do think a lot of yourselve don't you. Did you win by a landslide in your race? Oh that's right you lost.

I found the comment to be particularly angry, but still eager to "campaign" on behalf of Mrs. Dahlkemper. I was curious, and a quick glance at the origination of the published comment was startling.

My Findings?

It seems that a FEDERAL EMPLOYEE that works in a U.S. House of Representatives Office was posting the comment using US TAX PAYER DOLLARS on a computer and internet connection that were PAID FOR by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and US TAX PAYER DOLLARS.

The Details

The individual logged in from IP address 143.228.129.9. A simple search on that IP address through on-line sources (in this case http://cqcounter.com/whois/) proved that the comment was posted on March 2nd, 2010 at 9:13:41 AM by a PC that is using a US House of Representatives computer and internet connection. The data regarding IP address 143.228.129.9 is displayed below.

My experiences with these types of visits (and I have seen many during the past year and a half) have shown that the IP address may show up as Washington DC, but the physical connection itself can be anywhere. The same goes for Pennsylvania State Government connections that are labeled “Harrisburg PA”. The physical connection may well be in Mercer County.

The internet connection being used in this case is clearly paid for, installed on behalf of, and maintained by the Federal government via the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC, but the actual visit may have occurred from a PC in a different location (like Hermitage, PA, for instance). I’m sure that a Federal review of the IP address would probably provide additional information in this case.

My point is . . .

I understand that it may be the job of Federal employees to monitor blog activity regarding elected officials. Such monitoring might actually provide elected officials with the most accurate account of what concerned citizens are thinking, and that is a good thing. However, when a Federal employee makes use of the time and equipment that is paid for by the Federal government (and thus the tax payers) to grind a personal axe or to attempt to promote “their candidate” on MY DIME, I become VERY VERY CONCERNED.

Perhaps this incident should be investigated a bit.

Please feel free to share your thoughts HERE.

As always, just my opinion.

What Went Wrong With The 'Change We Can Believe In' Revolution

The sudden drop in popularity of President Obama and democrats in general has to baffle mainstream political pundits. I've lived through a few conservative revolutions in my lifetime. Both the Reagan Revolution and the Newt Gingrich led Republican Revolution of 1994 were both conservative movements that had real political legs changing the Country's political landscape for 8 to 12 years. However, the "Change We Can Believe In" revolution lasted barely two years.

The architects of this Obama led revolution David Plouffe, Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod managed to tap into the mood of an American electorate who at the time was desperately seeking CHANGE from Bush Administration's policies. Obama candidacy rode this momentum through the Democratic Presidential Primary defeating Washington insider Hillary Clinton. The momentum continued to carry Obama into the fall where he won a very convincing victory over GOP nominee Senator John McCain.

The revolution peeked with the election of President Obama in November of 2008 and now has been on a downward slide ever since. I must admit that the Democratic Party's victory was so sweeping that I thought it would be decades before another republican majority controlled Congress.

This year the political landscape of the country has already changed and democratic incumbents up for re-election in Congress are feeling the heat from the many political missteps by Congressional leaders and the Obama Administration.

Here is a list of missteps that have tipped the scale favoring republicans this election year:

1. Over estimating their political mandate that depended heavily on the idea of CHANGE. The country, especially independents, didn't vote for a move to more left of center policies. They just wanted change for change sake. This miscalculation led to the Obama Administration pushing an agenda geared towards satisfying the liberal left wing of the Democratic Party. This fatal mistake is why independents left the movement and has given rise to the Tea Party movement.

2. Passing a stimulus bill packed full of pork rather than real economic policy. The Obama Administration called the bill "shovel ready", but the bill was less stimulating to the American people who are still suffering from near 10% unemployment.

3. Focusing on passing health care reform instead of economic recovery. The now year long debacle has revealed to the American people Washington's true colors. The political partisanship and backroom, deal making continues to demonstrate that nothing really has changed in Washington at all. Obama and Congressional Democrats still haven't caught on to the fact that the more this health care debacle drags on the lower their poll numbers go!

4. The liberal media's portrayal of President Obama as a larger than life, Hollywood mogul has not helped the President's real poll numbers. The Obama is here, Obama everywhere strategy of the White House staff hasn't made Obama look very presidential. It is almost like Obama is still campaigning.

5. The beer summit staring President Obama, Professor Gates of Harvard, and police officer Crowley whom arrested Gates for trying to brake into his house. Obama said that the police officer acted "stupidly" in a press conference. In hindsight now I have to say the entire event was stupid.

6. President Obama losing the Chicago Olympic bid. This was an embarrassment and a first in a string of losses.

7. President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Accepting the honor before accomplishing anything really set well with the American people.

8. Accepting Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter into the Democratic ranks with open arms. This was a very big mistake. Obama and the Democratic leadership aligned themselves with and campaigned for Specter putting them in direct conflict with the CHANGE mantra that Obama so elegantly spouted during his campaign.

9. The two deals worked out by Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, with Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and Louisiana Sen. Landrieu in order to pass the Senate's Health Care Bill. This has left many Americans wondering if they can trust the current Congressional leadership.

10. Underestimating the political influence of the Tea Party movement. The Massachusetts special election proved that the continued disdain for the Tea Party movement by leaders in the Democratic Party is not paying off at the ballot box. They are the ones looking like fools for attacking a movement that is advocating for limited government. An idea that has been popular in America for over 200 years.

11. Underestimating just how much of a political issue sound fiscal policy and the growing federal deficit would be this election year.

Mary Young: Tea Party fighting against 'politics as usual'

Today the Reading Eagle has a column written by Mary Young that captures the essence of the Tea Party movement both Nationally and here in Pennsylvania.

While national media outlets and blogs like The Huffington Post attempt to portray the Tea Party movement as a "circus show" primarily made up of radical conservative, at the grassroots level Tea Party party groups continue to grow in numbers locally.

In her article Mary correctly identifies that the Tea Party movement is really about restoring our country to the limited government principles that it was founded upon and rebellion against "politics as usual".

Here a snip from Mary's article:
According to the Berks Patriots mission statement, the group is committed to restoring and promoting the conservative values and ideals of the country's founding documents.

They believe their creator, not the government, gave them certain inalienable rights including life, liberty, property, free speech, a free market and the pursuit of happiness.

They believe a limited government is necessary to ensure those rights. Click Here To Read More
This is what political pundits from both political parties cannot seem to rap their thick noggins around. They just can't understand that the American people still believe in and agree with our founding fathers who created a system of limited government to protect us from Tyranny.

Both elected politicians and party leaders can't seem to understand that documents like the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are not mere historical documents. They are documents that still have real meaning in our lives and to the unidentified majority who gave up on politics the past 30 years they are still worth fighting for.

That is right folks. This movement isn't a conservative majority or a liberal majority. The movement is made up of the 55% of Americans who didn't vote in the past because they felt like their vote didn't matter or didn't feel they could impact the political process. The Tea Party movement is showing these disengaged voters that their voice and vote can impact the direction of our country.

Let me give some advice to the political aristocracy in this country a.k.a the republican and democratic parties. Phrases like "Viva liberty" and "Give me liberty or give me death" still mean the same in 2010 as they did back in 1776.

President Obama Signs Law Increasing The Federal Debt Limit To 14.3 Trillion Dollars

In case you missed it, today is a historical day in the history of this great nation. Yes that is right folks. You are probably thinking to yourself that today has just been like any other day. But the historical significance of this day won't be published on the front page of every newspaper in America. Nor will you won't find it as the lead story on your local television news broadcast.

Why is today so significant?

Today is the day that President Obama signed legislation increasing the nation's debt limit by $1.9 trillion dollars. According to various sources there was no planned ceremony for the signing. In fact President Obama signed the legislation behind closed doors and with no cameras present. That's all. Just another day in Washington D.C.

Congressional Democrats rammed the legislation through Congress last week. Now signed by the President, the bill raises the total amount the federal government can borrow from $12.394 trillion to $14.3 trillion. The justification for raising the debt limit given by Democratic Party leaders in both the House and Senate was so the government could function the rest of the year.

What ever happened to cutting spending? Instead they chose to borrow more money. These are the choices that our elected leaders in Washington are making for us. Incredible!!!

O.K! Today's historical event is not Washington crossing the Delaware River. But to many Americans concerned about the fiscal health of our country, today is just as critical to our future. Today is the day that should ingrained into the minds of everyone concerned about out of control spending in by our federal government.

Seriously folks how long can we afford to put up with this madness?

WE THE PEOPLE SHALL STAND UNITED

"Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction. " John F. Kennedy

I chose this quote because it says it all. There are people everywhere trying to get Obama and or all the democrats out of office. This, I can deal with however; take the republicans with them.

My congressman, Bill Shuster, asked me to support him in opposing Obama's health care plan. I am all for stopping this health care plan but, I will not support Mr. Shuster in his effort or lack thereof. I asked his staff, what is he proposing to American's on this issue and all I got was directed to a statement he made on the internet, that didn't offer any answer to my question.

I can't accept a person just because he disagrees on the same topics as I. I want someone in office who has a solution, not an excuse to blame someone else. I have no interest in helping anyone stay in office because they have a family to feed and need a paycheck. If you have no solutions to offer then you need to step down and get out of office, so someone else can bring fresh ideas to the table and be productive at the position.

Now this is not a personal attack on Mr. Shuster. This should be the respect held for the particular seat/office by all our politicians. I hear way too many people complaining about the problems instead of actively searching for a solution. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

We've all heard this sad story before but, do oneself a favor and think about it for a second. I personally do not wish to be a part of the problem anymore. Yes, at some point we have all been or are part of the problem.

Everyone says Obama is the whole problem. Well I can assure you that no one man is the whole problem. History has proven that there is always more than one. Most of you are fully aware of this, so I will not go any further on this.

We spend all this time idolizing politicians and those in office. Why? Has one of them never let you down? Has one never disagreed with you on a single subject? or is it just because he was a democrat or republican like you? I ask that stop your idolizing. Idols fade away. Idols will only let you down.

They are but mere men or women. Please don't idolize because these people portray themselves in a way to mess with our minds. I become irritated from time to time, because I try to talk to people and help Americans realize that we need to unite. The irritation comes from the fact that almost everyone agrees with some of which I deem best for America. Yet, the "almost" is normally the same thing. They are quick to defend the political party of choice.

This is a major issue in our nation. I think it is a pretty simplistic statement and strong one too. " UNITED WE STAND & DIVIDED WE FALL" Political parties are nothing more then dividers amongst the American people. So, why is it that very few in comparison actually see this point?

America, we must stop allowing the corruption of our nation to blind us and even worse turn on each other. Once again I say it,"UNITED WE STAND & DIVIDED WE FALL". Please, I plead with you, rid the tyrants of this tool of leverage. We need a president that won't be lead by the corruption of the banks and corporate America.

We need a Congressman who isn't in his seat because all his buddies from high school didn't do their homework or do not care about issues and just want to help a friend out. The buddy system must come to an end, NOW! The buddy system is part of what allowed the corruption in our government in the first place.

WE THE PEOPLE, must stop voting for the lesser of the evils, and stop voting the evil in PERIOD! That's like me saying "heroine is worse, so I'll just smoke crack instead". That is the dumbest justification or excuse ever.

Time has come my fellow Americans. The time to take our nation back and rise up from the grasp of these nay sayers and false idols. It bares repeating: "WE THE PEOPLE", "UNITED WE STAND", "DIVIDED WE FALL" America, we the the people shall stand united.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Calls People Who Attended The Tea Party Convention White-Hooded Racists.

I love it when left wing, members of the mainstream media feel like they are losing control. Here is MSNBC's Rachel spewing out her liberal venom last Friday referring to attendees of the National Tea Party convention in Nashville, Tennessee, as white-hooded racists. That's right folks. Now anyone who is attending any type of meeting that disagrees with the liberal agenda are racist, KKK members. Calm down Rachel. It will be O.K. Could someone please give Rachel a new pack of Energizer batteries so she can get some sleep at night!!!

Some thoughts on the Tea Party Convention

I must say that the Tea Party idea is great. Now that I've said that and after watching the convention this weekend, I feel that the corrupt are lurking amongst some of the Tea Partiers. I am hoping that more people within this movement are less like those of which chosen to be seen on TV over the weekend.

I also think that there is a large number of people within the Tea Party movement who are seeking the same change as I and millions of other Americans. I deem it fair to say, that most of the people who joined with this movement, knew no where else to look to. We hear the word revolution tossed around amongst these members and tend to run with it. Please apply caution fellow Americans. We can't allow ourselves to jump on the first bus that comes to the terminal because we don't know it's real agenda or where it plans on going.

Now, please do not take what I say in a disrespectful manner by any means. I am NOT saying the Tea Party movement is bad or wrong. I am saying do as Mrs. Palin said in her speech at the Tea Party convention and vote for who you, as an individual, feels has the interest of the constitution and liberty at heart, not who Mrs. Palin endorses while on stage or anyone endorsed by anyone else.

We American's have become lazy and no longer know our candidates for any office, let alone the white house. We must do our homework. So let us keep the cool guys and big names out of the Tea Party and continue to filter it down to those who are interested in two things. The Consititution of the United States of America and liberty.

State Of Narcissism, President Obama's State Of The Union Address

According to Wikipedia, the definition of narcissism is defined as having or exhibiting the personality trait of egotism, specifically in reference to a set of character traits associated with self-image ego. The terms narcissism, narcissistic, and narcissist are often used as pejoratives, denoting vanity, conceit, egotism or simple selfishness. Sometimes it can be applied to a group in the terms of elitism. I just think it is kind of funny how the simple definition of the word narcissism pretty much sums up President Obama's entire State Of The Union Address to Congress Wednesday night.

As I watched the entire State of the Union speech, I couldn't help but feel like I was listening to my high school principal telling me just how bad of a person I was and how listening to him would make my life better.

In fact, the speech wasn't really a speech. It was more like a lecture on how things ought to be according to President Obama's world view. The speech did not clearly lay out the challenges we face as a nation and what the Obama administration plans to do about them. Then to say in the speech that the American people need to muster up the courage to follow him was just a slap in the face.

It baffles me how someone who campaigned on changing the tone in Washington continues to snub his nose at opposing views. It is because of Obama's leadership not former President Bush's, Washington is now more partisan than ever. In his speech President Obama was lecturing everyone. Congressional republicans, the American people, and even the Supreme Court Justices were the victims of President Obama's furry. That kind of tone really isn't stirring up bipartisanship in Washington.

President Obama also made it clear in the speech that he and the liberal left wing of the Democratic Party will continue to shove their liberal agenda down people's throats. Word to the President and democrats controlling Congress, this is the real reason the American people are frustrated and angry. It is a failure to listen not communicate that is the real problem.

What the speech did do is demonstrate just how out of touch the President and the Democratic Party is with the challenges that everyday Americans face each day. They believe the answer to our problems is more President Obama and more government control of our industry and our lives. What the American people need right now is not a helping hand but a strong plan to move our country forward. That just wasn't evident in the State of the Union Address.

Toomey way ahead of Specter in latest poll

It looks like no matter how Democratic Party pundits try to spin things, PA voters sure are in an anti establishment, anti incumbent mood these days.

This bodes well for the PA GOP candidates who seem destined to win the Governor's race, the U.S Senate race, and a pick up of two or even three Congressional seats in the November election.

However the mood doesn't bode well for everyone's favorite Senator, Arlen Specter. So just how bad are Specter's prospects of re-election right now? The Politico is reporting Specter trails GOP front runner Pat Toomey by 14 points in a latest Franklin and Marshall College poll.
A new poll from Franklin and Marshall College confirms Specter’s precarious situation. He trails Republican Pat Toomey by 14 points, 45 percent to 31 percent. Only 34 percent of Pennsylvanians gave Specter favorable job marks, with 58 percent saying he was doing a “fair” or “poor” job as senator. Click Here To Read More
These poll numbers shouldn't surprise anyone. To many voters around the state Specter has become a symbol for what is wrong in Washington and has become a poster boy for the need for term limits. Specter's move to switch parties to save his political life has not worked out as originally planned.

Specter now finds himself in the middle of a political buzz saw. First, Democratic Party voters are not energized by his campaign. Second, conservative voters and Tea Party activist are fired up to take him out. Then add to all of this independent voters who are disgruntled with the Obama Administration's policies. Double Ouch!!!

Probably, President Obama's State Of The Union address may have put the final nail in Specter's coffin. Obama's push to continue the Democratic Party's left wing agenda while snubbing the American people's pressure to move to the center will hurt Specter tremendously.

The bottom line in the PA Senate race is simple. Voting for Arlen Specter is not "Change that we can believe in".

Real Hope and Change Coming in 2010

Pollster Scott Rasmussen asks Americans each month to give their opinion on whether the United States is headed in the right direction or the wrong track. His polls were widely reported by the mainstream news media during George W. Bush's last year in office, but the right direction/wrong track numbers get little coverage now that the media's hand-picked candidate occupies the White House.

Nearly 80 percent of Americans told Rasmussen just before the November 2008 election that the country was on the wrong track. That explains why Barack Obama was elected president and Democrats picked up seats in Congress.

Bush has been out of office for 11 months as promises of "hope" and "change" swept the land, but most Americans now believe Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats are taking the country in the wrong direction.

A majority of voters — 62 percent — believe the nation is heading down the wrong track, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Just 32 percent of U.S. voters say the country is heading in the right direction. That's a small gain after two months of decline that culminated in a finding of 29 percent, the lowest number Rasmussen reported since February 2009.

The percentage of voters who feel the country is heading in the right direction remained in the range of 31 percent to 35 percent from July to early November. From late November until the end of 2009, confidence in the country's current course steadily declined, Rasmussen says.

It's no surprise that Democrats suffered embarassing defeats in the New Jersey and Virginia governor races last November. Obama campaigned heavily for the Democrats in both states, but Republicans won decisive victories in what many saw as an early referendum on Obama's agenda of record deficit spending, higher taxes and a government takeover of health care.

Only the most partisan of Democrats can feel good about the midterm Congressional elections. Most pollsters and pundits predict heavy losses for Democrats in both the House and Senate.

You not only have the normal disappointment with a presidential administration, but the Democrats' heavy-handed tactics in ramming through the unpopular health care reform bills will cost Democrats seats in Congress.

There have already been two attacks on U.S. soil by Islamic terrorists during Obama's first year in office — the shootings at Fort Hood in early November and the attempted downing of a Detroit-bound passenger airliner on Christmas Day.

Concerns that Obama is soft on terrorism are starting to resonate with many Americans, even ones who voted for Obama.

With Obama's job approval numbers below 50 percent and poll numbers for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid consistently below 30 percent, it's no longer a question of whether Democrats will lose seats, it's now a matter of whether Democrats will lose control of Congress.

Most political observers predict Republican gains of 20 to 30 seats in the House, where Democrats have a 262-178 majority and a handful of seats in the Senate, where Democrats have a 60-40 majority.

Some pundits are predicting a historic comeback for the Republican Party. The astute Dick Morris, who helped Bill Clinton win two terms as president, believes Republicans will take back the majority in both the House and Senate.

While publicly downplaying potential losses in Congress, the Obama administration has seen the writing on the wall. Pushing a far-left agenda and breaking numerous campaign promises has alienated independent voters and some Democrats. That's why Obama's job approval numbers have declined rapidly since he took office. Obama's personal popularity remains high, but most Americans do not support his radical policies.

The reason Obama is rushing legislation through Congress and making back-room deals that will cost taxpayers billions of dollars is because he knows his time is running out.

The health care reform bills, negotiated in secret without any Republican input, barely passed the House and only won Senate approval after key Senators were bribed by Majority Leader Reid at the prompting of the Obama White House.

And don't forget that the defection of Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter to the Democratic Party is the only reason health care passed in the Senate. Specter is probably in his last year in the Senate, facing a tough primary challenger (Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak) in May and an even tougher Republican opponent (former Congressman Pat Toomey) in November.

Without the 60-vote majority in the Senate, Democrats are done and Obama will end up a lame duck in his last two years in office.
