It's Primary Day in Pennsylvania! |
Republican Senate Primary Race: In a surprise victory Sam Roher defeats Tom Smith, Steve Welch, and Marc Scaringi. Both Smith's and Welch's campaign ads highlighting their past ties to the democratic party made them both look bad. Also a big embarrassment for Governor Corbett backed Welch losing here.
Attorney General Race: Kathleen Kane may be the PA democratic party's answer to Sarah Palin. She's hot! She wins a big victory over Patrick Murphy. The truth is Kathleen Kane ran a great campaign. Murphy did not.
State Auditor General Race: John Maher wins this one big. Frank Pinto gave it his best shot. GOP party establishment candidates always win these races.
4th Congressional District Race: Commissioner Chris Reilly (R) tops Rep. Scott Perry (R).
17th Congressional District Race: Attorney Matt Cartwright finally takes down Representative Tim Holden
12th Congressional District Race: Jason Altmire (D) defeats Mark Critz (D). This will be very close.
11th Congressional District Race: Gene Stilp (D) defeats Bill Vinsko (D)
29th State Senate District: Businessman John Rich (R) defeats Senator David Argall (R).
Argall voted for the pay raise and Citzen's Alliance of Pennsylvania sending a message with a victory here.
37th State Senate District: Businessman D. Raja (R) defeats Rep. Mark Mustio (R). Mustio's racial debacle doomed his candidacy.
50th District House Race: Bill DeWeese resigned his seat this morning and will end up winning the nomination tonight again in Green County.
79th District House Race: This no doubt will be the biggest surprise upset of the night. Professor John McGinnis takes out longtime republican Rep. Rick Geist. Geist's negatives were just too high to overcome in the polling data. Also this is another impressive victory for Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania. Another pay jacket caucus leader goes down tonight!
Murphy ran a terrible campaign and doesn't deserve this post. His attack dog ads against Kane didn't help. Let's hope takeaway for Axelrod et al is that Republican-style take no prisoners campaign tactics won't work for Obama in November either.
ReplyDeleteI lifted some of your predictions. You know what is going on in the Republican races better than I.
ReplyDeleteDear fellow defenders of liberty:
ReplyDeleteNow that my final task for this Primary of removing Sam’s lawn signs from polling places is complete, I wanted to express how honored and humbled I am in having made the acquaintance of so many like minded freedom loving people.
Though many of the “good guys” like Sam did not prevail either locally or statewide, I’ll leave it to the professional pundits to analyze factors like voter turnout and whether better than anticipated weather, or the lack of the “home town” Presidential candidate – Santorum - help or hurt us. For me, all that is irrelevant. What is important is that we are united in our continuing desire to push back against the forces of “big government,” be they D’s or R’s.
The MSM would have the public misinformed about how women are united behind “Progressive” candidates. This couldn’t be further from the truth! There are large numbers of very committed conservative females in the Tea Party and Libertarian movements. And your presence and passion encourages me to fight beside you to bequeath a nation to our children and grandchildren where as MLK once said “a (person) may be judged by his (her) character rather than by the color of his (her) skin,” and whereby the concept of “equal opportunity” as enshrined in our founding documents is not superseded by the progressive’s desire for an American society centered around “equal outcomes” via “social justice;” imposed by Executive Branch administrative overregulation or Judicial activism.
Though we may have failed yesterday, take heart from the following:
“Edison did not think that any of his failures were actually “failures.” Edison said “If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is just one more step forward....” Do you turn your “mistakes” into learning experiences? Adopt the same attitude as Edison did. Learn from mistakes. Be persistent.”

It is ironic to think that 133 years after Edison’s invention which illuminated the night and revolutionized the world, his invention is under attack by the big government central planners. Many of these same folks, never worked in the private sector, invented anything, or made a payroll. Yet, they claim to know better how to organize and run every aspect of our lives than those of us who have achieved even some small measure of success from the sweat of our own brows.
So, fellow believers in freedom, now is not the time to be discouraged. It is the time to join hands, stay in communication with the good citizens we have met along the way of the past few weeks or months of this campaign, and reach out to join forces in a “grassroots” way to effect the changes that must occur at the local, state, and federal levels to end the divisiveness of class warfare, ethnic, racial, religious and life-style choices, and save the republic for future generations. Remember, “E pluribus Unum,” (“Out of many – One”) is under attack every day. It is our job, to reinvigorate this concept and preserve it. To this I am committed, and through this we will eventually succeed.
Humbly and respectfully yours,
Cliff Eike
